When we hold worries inside, we either send ourselves on a never-ending merry-go-round of rumination or we resign ourselves to helplessness. Because artificial intelligence is being developed as I write, policies also need to be made to safeguard us against its dangers. Tech companies, such as Microsoft and Google, should have clear security measures in place before developing super-intelligent beings. Our government needs to fully understand the risks of artificially intelligent weaponry. Write to the policymakers. Let them know your concerns. Remember, doing something about a problem can increase a sense of effectiveness, which decreases anxiety and depression (common stressors).
